27th May 2009 - Texas Hill Country

The only risk on offer after our DFW (Metroplex) Chase the day before was a risk of Large Hail in the Texas Hill Country. We started from our overnight position of Weatherford (Tx) with a Chase Target of Frederickburg (Tx). We covered 591 miles in all today and saw some strange sights including Hail Fog with temps at 85f. Tower to Tower Lightning, Trees Stripped bare of their leaves and Hail to the size of Grapefruits about 5 miles from our location, we took a few Golfball sized stones! All in all it was not a bad chase considering the dreadful pattern that continued from most of May 2009! Ended the day at Fredericksburg.
